Fresh off of Bicycle Day (the psychedelic Xmas for trippers all over), there’s a new reason to celebrate! The United Nations has marked April 21, 2021 as a day to celebrate the creative economy. ‘Tis the perfect time to reflect on how creativity and innovation has kept us afloat — especially after a ghastly year of COVID lockdowns.

“The creative industries are critical to the sustainable development agenda. They stimulate innovation… support entrepreneurship, and contribute to cultural diversity.”Isabelle Durant, UNCTAD Acting Secretary-General

So to observe the day, we’ve put our heads together to give you the TOP 5 creative things to do while on shrooms and truffles!! (Not to worry, we’ve tailored them just right for lockdown. No extra costs).

No. 1: Draw or Paint a Self-Portrait (While on Shrooms)

Have you ever tried making a self-portrait?

Not a selfie on camera, but a sketch or painting of yourself in all your glory. For most adults, drawing our own faces on paper can be scary. Not just coz it’s hard, technical-wise. After all, kids love to draw squiggles of themselves with crayons! So why is it so freakin hard now that we’re getting older?

Experts say that self-portraits are the essence of your soul… a reflection of your true self at that point in your life. Drawing yourself requires that you ask the hardest question of all time: “Who am I?” And not everyone can wax philosophical for an answer.

Here’s the good news! Magic mushrooms and truffles can help you deal with artist’s block (and other pesky obstacles to your self-realisation).

Artist Bryan Lewis Saunders took a different drug every day for 50 days… He drew a self-portrait right after taking ‘em. Like this zany one on psilocybin mushrooms!

Psilocybin — the psychoactive ingredient in shrooms and truffles — can give you a spike in new ideas, energy, and focus. Microdosing truffles can boost your productivity for basic tasks, such as studying for exams or crunching numbers. But did you know that going on a full-on trip can help unlock your creative potential? In a 2019 study, Dr. Natasha Mason found a link between shrooms and creativity:

“We found that psilocybin, when taken in a naturalistic setting, increased aspects of creativity and empathy the morning after, and 7 days after use.”

No. 2: Bake Some Shroomy Cupcakes

Cupcakes are one of the most delicious things on earth. Chocolate, vanilla, red velvet cupcakes. Not only are these devilish cups of cream yummy AF, they are also very easy to make. Just splooge all the ingredients in a bowl, whisk into a silky smooth batter, lick the leftover mixture, pour into cupcake moulds, and BAKE. That’s it!

For a shroomy twist, why not add some chopped magic truffles to the cupcake mixture? Don’t worry about any ”intense” trip either, as psilocybin rarely goes 100% trippy on a full stomach. (For an in-depth explanation on how food can affect your trip, check out our blog🙂

Magic Truffle Cupcakes (Recipe)*

Yield: 10 magic truffle cupcakes

Prep time: 15 mins.

Bake time: 15 mins.

(Total: 30 mins)

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons and ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ⅓ cup and 2 tablespoons and ½ teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ⅔ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons and ⅘ teaspoon butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons and ⅘ teaspoon white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅖ teaspoon and ⅔ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup and 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup chopped magic truffles

Step 1

Warm up your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Put some wax paper or foil liners in a muffin tray. For the flour mixture, sift the flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

Step 2

In a bowl, whisk the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, then stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well. Add chopped magic truffles. Fill the muffin cups 3/4 full.

Step 3

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the warm oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Frost with your favorite frosting when cool. Top with more chopped truffles, coz why not?

No. 3: Soak in a Warm Bath (and Sing to Your Heart’s Content)

Whilst you dig into your freshly-baked truffle cupcakes, why not treat yourself to a nice warm bath? Yeah, that’s right. Who cares if it’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon? There’s a global pandemic. You deserve a cosy warm soak, damn it!

In high-strung cultures such as Japan where being “first in, last out” of the office is normal, you’ll notice a lot of KTV bars in the area. After a long day at work, Japanese office workers let go of stress in the best way possible: Karaoke.

Now wait a minute. “Dude” you protest. “I don’t own a karaoke machine.” But, ever notice how your voice sounds really good… Maybe even  The Voice-worthy when you sing in the bathroom? That’s coz of the perfect acoustics and reverb.

“But the neighbours might hear.” Bro. When was the last time you let go of your shyness, and sang Let It Go to your heart’s content? By singing in the bath or shower, you release the stress and tension trapped in your body. Two things that make it 100% easier are warm water (hence the soak) and psilocybin. Why not try this combo yourself?

Let it go, sis. Don’t hold it back anymore.

No. 4: Write Your Grandparents a Postcard

Who doesn’t LOVE getting mail??

Since the internet became a thing, it’s rare to find someone sending physical postcards or letters. Writing on stationery, buying a stamp, and walking to the post office? Too much time and effort!

“C’mon Nan, I did send you a birthday email,” you’d tell your grandma. “It’s that envelope icon on your iPhone. Open it.”

But that’s the thing, though, isn’t it? Ask any elderly person dear to you, and they’d say “nothing of worth comes easy”. Hey, we get it. Time and effort. But for our grandparents, a gift doesn’t need to be costly – just made with love. Like a postcard!

Why not send them a personalised one? Perhaps use shrooms to help you get in touch with the fuzzy-wuzzies within you to make the message extra meaningful — don’t freak ’em out though… Grab a blank card, a pen, and some coloured markers — and just write: “Hey Grandpa, hope you’re doing OK in lockdown. I just FaceTimed you yesterday, but I’m thinking of you today.”

Too cheesy? Perhaps. But do it right and your grandparents will LOVE you for it… Maybe even keep it on the fridge.

No. 5: Make a Time-Capsule Video (of You Tripping Out on Shrooms)

Photo by Becky Phan on Unsplash

This one’s for the performers out there…

If you’re not familiar, a Time Capsule is something you fill with photos, toys, videos, or anything you enjoy at the moment. Then you bury the time capsule (usually a shoebox or a metal canister) for a set number of years. By the time you dig it up, you’ll be a different person entirely — but the time capsule stays the same. A snapshot of your state of being

For a 2021 twist, why not record a time capsule video? It’s been a — let’s say — unusual year-and-a-bit. Let’s make the most out of this twilight period. If you’re in a safe space, go on a full-on trip with shrooms and truffles — with your iPhone as your audience. Who knows what crazy epiphany you’ll have that you can remember forever through the power of a camera phone?

At least your future self has a copy!

The Easiest Way to Get Creative

Psychedelics, such as magic mushrooms and truffles, are a great tool to help spark the genius inside of you. You can microdose ‘em for an easy, creative buzz — or go on a full-on psilocybin trip for a day like no other. Just ask these guys from Wholecelium HQ:
