He is also the CEO of Tesla, the electric car company. Ask any crypto market nut about the Dogecoin incident — in which Musk tweeted about the meme crypto coin — and you’ll hear about how his tweet caused an 800% spike in its value nonstop.

As with most giants in the tech industry, whatever Musk says tends to attract investors and blow up that specific ‘bubble’. Now, the next big market in Musk’s radar seems to be the psychedelic drug industry.

Is a post-pandemic ‘magic mushroom and magic truffle boom’ to be expected? How often does Silicon Valley get trippy anyway? And can microdosing psilocybin unlock your creative genius?

Elon Musk Praises Psychedelics

Elon Musk interviewed by Kara Swisher at CodeCon 2021 (via CodeCon)

At the tech development event CodeCon2021, Field Trip Health co-founder Ronan Levy asked Musk the Twitter-breaking question:

“What role do you think psychedelics may have in addressing some of the more destructive tendencies of humanity?”

The SpaceX CEO then replied to a live audience:

“I think, generally, people should be open to psychedelics.

“A lot of people making laws are kind of from a different era. So, as the new generation gets into political power, I think we will see greater receptivity to the benefits of psychedelics.”

Fingers crossed he’s on to something ….

…And Predicts Full Decriminalisation

Various U.S. cities and states are decriminalising the use of natural psychedelics, also known as entheogens. These include psilocybin from magic mushrooms and truffles, ibogaine, and DMT-rich ayahuasca. The latest to join the party was Seattle in Washington earlier this week — you can read all about the exciting news right here! This wave of legal progress is propelled by psychedelic research, which is key to convincing the lawmakers to give ’em a shot!

Recent studies have shown psilocybin and DMT to be effective for mental health. When paired with talk therapy, psilocybin can help treat a host of conditions, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction.

Musk’s answer at CodeCon is a solid endorsement of the therapeutic use of psychedelic drugs — even hinting he suspects their complete decriminalisation in the U.S. in the near future. Can you imagine? A future where everyone gets to enjoy the healing wonders of magic mushrooms and magic truffles (and other such entheogens). And by the looks of it, the prophecy is well on its way to becoming true…

Elon’s History with DMT

Apart from looking after X Æ A-12 Musk — his child with “science fiction dream pop” singer and ex-girlfriend Grimes — Elon spends much of his time thinking about ways for humans to go into outer space. Interstellar planet hopping, anyone?

But oh boy! Who knew the SpaceX CEO was also into trips of the psychedelic kind? Musk’s words at CodeCon, while making a strong case, are certainly not his first time flirting with the concept. In November 2020, Elon tweeted that one cannot break the “laws of thermodynamics” or physical reality as we know it, unless DMT is involved — aka the trippy compound in ayahuasca:

Elon Musk’s tweet about DMT

Musk already had his fair share of controversy back in 2018, when he went on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast while smoking pot. It was the episode that launched a thousand memes. But NASA got suspicious, and soon ordered a review of SpaceX’s workplace culture to see if the rocket company was “fit to transport astronauts” to the International Space Station. Uh-oh! Maybe the world has not quite caught up yet, Elon…

Can Psychedelics Prevent War?

When asked if psychedelics could help cure some of our “destructive tendencies”, Musk answered that humans — at least the majority of the world’s population today — are no longer as bloodthirsty as we once were. Not sure if a billionaire is equipped to to comment on the rest of the population… but luckily the facts support his claim.

Said Musk:

“We are at a very peaceful moment in history. We’re actually at the lowest violence per capita in human history. It may not seem like that but objectively those are the statistics.”

Microdosing in Silicon Valley

Stories of tech giants microdosing in Silicon Valley are nothing new. Did you know that psychedelics such as magic mushrooms and magic truffles can do a whole lot more to alter your consciousness besides tripping?

True, studies have shown psilocybin as an effective treatment to a host of serious mental conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. But if these conditions don’t currently effect you… and you simply want to be extra productive at work? Silicon Valley, for example, is notorious for being super competitive. Tech engineers and app developers want razor-sharp focus for the next billion-dollar idea. So they wondered: Why not microdose?

Enter biohacking, a practice which includes microdosing psychedelics (such as magic truffles and LSD) to “hack” your brain’s productivity. The methods may seem alien at first, but they are designed to boost your creativity. Kinda like taking Adderall for crunching spreadsheets in the office, or drinking ten shots of espresso at night — only this time in a much safer, non-addictive way. And the more productive you are in Big Tech, the more money you earn!

In an interview with the New York Times, a tech executive shared the reality for most coders and app developers in Silicon Valley:

“No one can afford to lose a step here anymore, so they want to hack the experience to make it work for their time-constrained schedules. You want to be super lucid now.”

Psychedelics and Creative Genius

Can psychedelics, such as magic truffles, be used to hack your hidden creative genius? Though one may choose to take hallucinogenic drugs simply to trip out in a flash of lights and colors, and escape the routine of daily life, you can also use them to expand your consciousness.

A recent study showed that taking psilocybin — which in this case was 15 grams of Psilocybe Hollandia truffles —  can improve your creative thinking, empathy, and sense of well-being. All of which can last for up to seven days after your dose!

According to the study:

“The ability of psilocybin to enhance [creative thinking] sub-acutely could help patients to relive events, recall various associations, and consider their situation from another perspective.

The Legend of Steve Jobs and LSD

Steve Jobs in the 1970s (via Eoshd.com)

Yes, as of course you’ve heard tell… the late Apple founder Steve Jobs was reported to have taken LSD in his heyday to help with creativity. He’s basically the archetype for today’s psilocybin-dosing tech heads. I mean, of course he is — Steve Jobs gave us the Mac, the iPad, and the iPhone a couple of years later. He also said Microsoft would have smashed it in Silicon Valley had founder Bill Gates “dropped acid”.

Jobs once said of his experience with LSD:

“Taking LSD was a profound experience, one of the most important things in my life. LSD shows you that there’s another side to the coins, and you can’t remember it when it wears off, but you know it.

“It reinforced my sense of what was important – creating great things instead of making money, putting things back into the stream of history and of human consciousness as much as I could.”

Be Open to Magic

” Be open to psychedelics.”

Elon Musk’s message at CodeCon is a nudge for us to be receptive and open to new experiences. While it’s perfectly normal to be scared of new things, especially if we’ve been conditioned to be afraid of them (“Don’t do drugs, kids!”) — unless we move out of our caves, find the light, and be open to magic, we’ll miss out on its many surprising benefits.

Microdosing magic mushrooms and magic truffles can help reveal new insights as to why certain things are the way they are. “What is the root of my problem? And how can I face it once and for all?” Or you can also open the doors of perception to help you think outside of the box. Who knows? You might come up with some kooky-crazy idea that’ll change your life drastically in the blink of A.I. The possibilities are endless…
